Celebrating Conservation & Community in Northfield, Minnesota

This fall, Northfield is honored to host the Governor’s Pheasant Opener — a long-standing Minnesota tradition that highlights wildlife habitat, conservation partnerships, and the outdoor heritage that defines our state.

While the event includes invited participants and conservation partners, its purpose is simple: to celebrate responsible land stewardship, recognize habitat preservation efforts, and showcase the host community.

This event is centered on conservation, community, and Minnesota’s outdoor legacy.

Conservation at the Core

Pheasant habitat represents much more than a single species — it reflects healthy grasslands, clean water systems, and strong partnerships between landowners and conservation professionals.

Efforts highlighted during the event support:

  • Sustainable land management

  • Wildlife habitat restoration

  • Soil and water conservation

  • Rural economic vitality

Northfield and the surrounding Rice County area are proud to be part of Minnesota’s conservation story.
